We had a short stay at Morelia last night photographing the fireworks at the Cathedral. The main plaza was very festive and packed with people. After an absolute downpour just an hour before, the weather cooperated and the fireworks commenced as scheduled.
Situated in the historic centre of Morelia, the Cathedral is considered one of the most beautiful Catholic churches in Mexico. It is built with pink volcanic rock and the colour really shines through on a clear sunny day. The architectural style is a combination of Neo-Classical, Herreresque and Baroque. The grandness of the cathedral is one of the reasons that Morelia is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
