Landed in Beijing from Xian a couple of days ago. The city is busy with hordes of people everywhere as the holiday season has started.
Tonight, I made my way to the famous Forbidden City at dusk for the flag lowering ceremony. Thousands of people has already arrived waiting for the daily spectacle. Unfortunately, due to the death of an important party official, Tianamen Square has been closed off the past few days.
Luckily I was able to get myself to the front entrance of the Forbidden City. It feels a bit strange to see this very familiar Beijing landmark now surrounded by posh hotels and fancy restaurants. Indeed, old is new again.
